ISO 8317 is the international standard for reclosable child-resistant packaging. It requires that children under 5 years old cannot open the package, while adults as defined by the standard can open and properly reclose it. For snus and nicotine pouch brands, ISO 8317 testing addresses child-resistant packaging requirements across major regulated markets including the US, EU, UK, Canada, Australia, and UAE/GCC.

BS EN ISO 8317 is the British and European adoption of the international ISO 8317 standard. It applies the same child-resistance test protocol but is formally referenced by UK and EU regulations, including the Tobacco Products Directive (TPD). MANKE provides both ISO 8317 and BS EN ISO 8317 test reports for brands launching in the UK, EU, and EEA markets.

Child-resistant packaging is a container with a closure or opening mechanism that is difficult for children under 5 to open, yet accessible to adults. No packaging is truly "child proof." "Child resistant" is the correct regulatory term: it means the package is significantly difficult for children under 5 to open within a reasonable time, while remaining accessible to adults. This is why standards like ISO 8317 use child-panel and adult-panel testing rather than claiming absolute proof.

Yes. MANKE's child-resistant snus cans are tested to 16 CFR 1700.20 by CPSC-accepted third-party laboratories. Test reports are included with every CR order at no additional cost, supporting US retail onboarding and regulatory review requirements.

Every order includes material compliance certificates — including the SGS test report for our PP resin against US FDA 21 CFR 177.1520 (Report No. SHAAF24026147609) — EU 10/2011 and REACH documentation, batch QC reports, and ISO 8317 child-resistant test reports (Certification No. STE10232501) for CR-certified orders. Additional certifications such as GSO ISO 8317:2015 for GCC or CAN/CSA Z76.1 for Canada can be arranged on request.
