Label Printing vs Direct Printing

The most common question from brands: should I print on a label or directly on the can? The answer depends on your volume, brand positioning, and how often you change designs.

Existing Mold vs Custom Mold

Most brands do not need a custom mold. MANKE has 21 existing SKUs that cover the vast majority of nicotine pouch formats. If your design fits one of these, you skip mold costs entirely.

You need a custom mold only when you require: a unique shape not in our catalog, a non-standard diameter outside the 60–73mm range, a proprietary closure mechanism, or a specific internal geometry (e.g., a custom catch-lid cavity).

Custom mold fabrication adds 4–6 weeks to your timeline. Mold costs are quoted per project. The mold belongs to you — if you leave MANKE, you take the mold with you.

Custom cans start at 10,000 units in stock colors (aluminum from 500 units). Custom Pantone colors start at 20,000 units for plastic and 10,000 units for aluminum anodize. Custom molds — where you need a completely new can shape — start at 10,000 units for PP, with mold fabrication costs quoted separately.
Do I need a custom mold?
Not usually. MANKE has 21 existing SKUs across standard, slim, mini, and CR formats. If one of these fits your requirements, you avoid mold costs entirely — you only pay for customization (color, print, label). Custom molds are needed only when you require a unique shape, a non-standard diameter, or a proprietary closure mechanism.
